The KPWT is proud to announce that the Essaouira Kiteboard World Cup will be taking place from the 6 - 11 July 2010 (registrations on the 6th, comp on 7th-11th July). After 6 successful events since the year 2000, Essaouira welcomes back the KPWT for a Wave and Freestyle Event.
This event has been announced as a 3-star Slam event with 30 000€ Prize money. The two disciplines being held will be Freestyle, and Waves, Senoirs and Juniors divisions for Freestyle.
The KPWT is sanctioned by the International Kiteboarding Federation (IKF). The riders, made up of the world’s top 32 pro men and top 10 pro women, all are excited for this competition, making a push for the KPWT Freestyle World Championship title 2010 and Wave World Championship 2010.
Essaouira boasts miles of superb sandy beach with wooded hills standing tall on the skyline to the east. It dominates a vast bay with the beach stretching south for about two miles to an even older, ruined fortification dating back to Portuguese occupation. Here the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Oceans merge to create two strikingly different coastlines. This years event is being held at La Grande Plage.
