Kiteboarding event in Kenya

Prosurf Extreme Charity Kitesurf Competition 2010
SUPERHEROES v VILLAINS - Feeling heroic or villianous?
Prosurf Extreme the leading kitesurf company in East Africa, are once again holding the Annual Charity Kitesurf Event which has now become a fixed feature on the Kenya Sporting Calendar.
From February 9 – 14th there is a whole week of fun and revelry at their centre on Nyali Beach all in the name of Charity and hosted by co-sponsor Nyali International Beach Hotel.
“The beauty of the event is that it attracts a crew of riders made up from a mixture of local kiters, professional kiters, promising stars of the future, and a whole lot of goodwill,” says MD Natalie Bland. “The sheer camaraderie of being part of such an event brings normally sane folks to be sponsored to shave off heads of hair or buy endless raffle tickets simply showing their generous support, which is amazing”.
This year there are 5 Kite Events spread over the 11th, 12th and 13th of February which include an Expression Session, a 3km Race Down wind, a Kicker and Slider(ramp/rail)session, Big Air and the now immovable fire-jumping session only for the brave at heart. The event will be photographed for Prosurf Extreme by internationally acclaimed Extreme Sports Photographer Christian Black.
The full week’s itinerary for all the contestants and spectators include wakeboarding, lunch by the beach at Jumba Ruins, a bikini and boardies party with DJ Mike B and BBQ’s and sundowners all at the new, stunning and very popular beach-side “Aqua Bar” at Nyali.
Nyali Beach International Hotel has welcomed the now well-established Kenyan event, also sponsoring rooms enabling Professional Riders from overseas to attend. “We are really committed to such a spectacular and well-meaning event.” says newly joined Resident Manager Frederic van Lennep, “This really showcases what our new Aqua Bar has to offer, being able to enjoying a beach-side venue and lifestyle whilst on holiday”.”
All entrants receive a goodie bag with T shirts and local products made in Kenya as well as priority reservations for the week’s itinerary, free kite service at Prosurf and entry into all 5 events.
A North Kiteboarding Demo day is on Thursday 11th February to formally announce Prosurf Extreme as a North Centre, where 2010 Kite gear is now available for lessons and rental. The Demo day will offer riders the chance to try out North equipment.
The finale is a party on the Tamarind Dhow at the world famous Tamarind Mombasa Restaurant. The Dhow will travel down the creek from sunset with a DJ entertainment. This year Prosurf Extreme has themed the Dhow Party as “Heroes and Villains - be your best or worst!”.
